Financials

Mr. Martin's initial gift of $50 million to benefit Muhlenberg County in 2008 was used to create an endowment, and invested to grow over time so that the buying power of the Foundation stays intact in the face of inflation.  Strong investment performance and a considered grantmaking strategy has allowed the foundation to increase our endowment while also making grants in the community above the Foundation's planned distribution policy. As of June 2023, the Foundation's endowment was valued at approximately $69 million, after awarding over $39 million in grants since the Foundation was created in 2008.
