The Felix E. Martin Jr. Foundation announces $50,000 designated for a new community beautification grants program which will encourage Muhlenberg County residents to make a difference in their own neighborhoods and downtowns by reimagining and breathing new life into neglected spaces.

Through “Spruce up the ‘Berg” grants, the Felix E. Martin Jr. Foundation hopes to encourage spring and summer projects from all corners the County, awarding grants for projects both large and small which will promote community pride and make our local communities more inviting for both those who live in the County and those visiting from out of town.Lanie Gardner, a founding committee member of the program and Foundation Board member, states “We are excited to engage with all areas of the county to see how we can support enhancements to their communities. Similar projects that have taken place in other communities across the country include park clean-up days, public art installations and murals, tree and flower planting, new signage and more. The opportunities are endless.” While most awards will range from $500 - $5,000, larger projects are also encouraged to apply for consideration.

The Foundation welcomes applications from individuals and organizations including local governments, faith-based organizations, 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations, as well as informal resident-led individuals or groups that will partner with the groups above as fiscally sponsored projects.
