Vickie Yonts is the Program Manager for the Felix E. Martin Jr. Foundation’s SOAR program, where her work focuses on early childhood literacy and kindergarten readiness for preschool-aged children in Muhlenberg County, KY. Vickie began as the first director of the program in 2011 and has led the development and implementation of county-wide programs for local children and parents which have already impacted a generation of Muhlenberg County children.
In addition to her work with the SOAR program, Vickie serves in leadership roles in many other organizations working to build a bright future for Muhlenberg County. She has served as a Chair of the Champions for a Drug Free Muhlenberg County since 2005 and is a member of the executive committee and teaching staff for Muhlenberg’s Youth Leadership program since 2012. At the state level, Vickie serves on the Prichard Committee’s Strong Start Kentucky Coalition and serves on the local Kentucky Community Early Childhood Council. Vickie was one of the founders of the student S.T.A.N.D. program at Muhlenberg County High School and part of the founding committee of Muhlenberg 20/20 Vision Committee. She serves as a Sunday School teacher for the adult class at her church and served as the youth leader for 21 years at the same church.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Vickie provided Regional Outreach for the Kentucky Delta Rural Project, serving 20 Counties in Western Kentucky.
Vickie and her husband, Joel, were both born and raised in Muhlenberg County and are proud to have raised their son and daughter, Bryse and Brooklynn, there as well. Joel and Vickie reside on the Yonts family farm where they raise cattle.
