Michael H. Mercer is a Director with Farmers Bank and Trust in Marion, KY.
Mike began his banking career in 1981, after graduating with a degree in business and finance from the University of Kentucky in 1980. Prior to his current position, Mike was President and CEO of First State Bank until it was purchased by Farmers Bank in 2019. During his career, he has served the banking industry as a director of the Kentucky Bankers Association for nine years, including a term as Chairman, as a director on the national board of Friends of Traditional Banking and previously served on multiple committees of the American Bankers Association. Along with banking, Mike presently serves his community in various capacities sitting on the board of directors of the Madisonville Community College Foundation, Central City Convention Center, and the Everly Brothers Foundation. He also serves on the Felix Martin Jr. Foundation Advisory Council and Board of Directors, is the President of the Central City Lions Club, and is a member of the Greater Muhlenberg Chamber of Commerce. Mike is a proud member of the First United Methodist Church, Gideon’s International, the University of Kentucky Fellows Society and the recently formed Muhlenberg County Chapter of the UK Alumni Association.
Mike was born, raised and lives in Central City with his wife of 35 years, Gloria, a retired school teacher with the Muhlenberg County School System. They have two daughters, Whitney and Terra, and eight grandchildren.
